OVERVIEW

The Pricing Analyst will play a critical role in developing, analyzing and optimizing pricing strategies with a focus on profitability, competitive stance and client priorities.  They will collaborate closely with attorneys, Business Development, Finance, Billing and other departments as required.  Their financial analysis and reporting will help drive informed decision-making.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares models to project the financial impact of proposed client and matter pricing arrangements;
  • Assesses financial exposure in proposed client and matter pricing arrangements and suggests any potential alternative pricing arrangements which may be appropriate;
  • Communicates pricing proposals, projected profitability and client and matter background to Managing Partners for feedback and approval;
  • Utilizes data mining to identify and analyze matter precedent and maintains and updates precedent databases;
  • Collaborates closely with attorneys to build detailed matter budgets;
  • Develops pricing and budget templates for different types of legal matters, including guidelines and frameworks to be applied;
  • Gathers financial data needed to respond to client RFPs for existing and prospective clients and assists by preparing financial aspects of responses for submissions;
  • Tracks and analyzes fee and cost write-ups/downs and account receivable write-offs;
  • Works closely with the Billing team to ensure that client and matter fee arrangements are implemented and tracked appropriately;
  • Efficiently analyzes data to formulate strategic responses to client reporting requests;
  • Stays informed of current pricing and rate trends within the legal market, and applies learned concepts to help improve the Firm’s pricing capabilities; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance, Mathematics or Business Administration; MBA or CPA a plus;
  • 3+ years related experience in pricing or similar role, preferably in a legal or other professional services environment;
  • Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively present complex financial metrics both in writing and orally;
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills and ability to synthesize numerical data and metrics effectively;
  • Knowledge of characteristics and phasing for different types of litigation and M&A matters combined with the willingness and ability to develop robust understanding of the Firm’s practice areas;
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling in MS Excel with proficiency in manipulating raw data into valuable information;
  • Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Elite 3E; prior experience and proficiency in SQL preferred;
  • Ability to collaborate and build relationships with staff and attorneys at all levels;
  • Ability to work well under pressure and coordinate several activities at one time;
  • Capable of solving problems and meeting hard deadlines in a fast-paced, detail oriented, and time sensitive environment;
  • Dependable team player who strives to contribute to a growing pricing team and is continually utilizing creativity to identify new ways that the team can grow as a valuable asset to the Firm;
  • Excellent judgment and ability to deal discreetly with confidential information; and
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed.

This position is located in our New York office, and currently has a hybrid work schedule, but that is subject to change. The estimated salary range for this position is $90,000 to $125,000. The actual salary offered will be based on a wide range of factors, including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and where applicable, licensure or certification obtained. Market and Firm factors are also considered.
