OVERVIEW

The Senior Technical Trainer trains legal and administrative staff on various software applications using classroom, presentation, one-on-one and remote learning formats. In addition, the Senior Technical Trainer analyzes new software and/or hardware and develops various references, courses and other learning materials.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and conducts technical training using various formats, such as hands-on, lecture, demonstration, online, etc.;
  • Develops and modifies learning materials;
  • Assists with managing and updating the Learning Management System (LMS);
  • Liaises with other departments to evaluate, test and recommend new software technology initiatives based on end user needs and feedback;
  • Assists with analysis of new and upgraded applications and features;
  • Manages projects by coordinating with stakeholders, setting timelines, tracking progress, and ensuring deliverables are met effectively;
  • Provides on-the-job support to users and, when necessary, to clients;
  • Attends team meetings to provide technical updates, new application and feature demonstrations, and to propose best practices;
  • Initiates and coordinates the implementation of all on-going technology and ‘soft skill’ learning initiatives;
  • Evaluates, designs, develops, and implements non-classroom electronic learning initiatives;
  • Stays informed of current work needs and suggests additional classes, or modifies existing ones, based on user needs;
  • Promotes and encourages participation in the implementation and use of new technology;
  • Proposes changes to curriculum based on feedback from users;
  • Performs needs assessments upon request to tailor curriculum for the respective audience; and
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma required;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, Communications, English and/or Instructor Certification or equivalent work experience preferred;
  • 5+ years of instructional experience in a legal environment preferred;
  • 5+ years' experience writing technical documentation for paper and/or electronic delivery;
  • Former educators, those with technical training backgrounds and internal candidates with relative experience are invited to apply;
  • Excellent knowledge of legal-specific documents using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) or knowledge of other word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, graphic and database applications used within a legal environment;
  • Administrator experience with an LMS;
  • Exceptional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong listening skills;
  • Excellent presentation, content writing and editing skills;
  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently by managing tasks, making informed decisions and seeking guidance only when necessary to ensure effective outcomes;
  • Knowledge of basic business applications (e-mail, internet, time billing and expense);
  • Knowledge of e-learning methodologies;
  • Experience with creating and editing e-learning using various applications (Camtasia, Adobe Captivate) is a plus;
  • Analytical and capable of solving problems in an efficient manner;
  • Ability to work with various skill levels;
  • The ability to work with Subject Matter Experts (“SME”), learn new processes and translate them into achievable learning objectives;
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and coordinate several projects and activities efficiently;
  • A proven commitment to high quality and excellence;
  • Available to work flexible hours and maintain different schedules for instructional demands of a 24-7 environment with multiple office locations or to complete projects and assignments outside normal business hours, if necessary, to meet objectives; and
  • Availability to work additional hours, as needed.

This position is located in our New York office, and currently has a hybrid work schedule, but that is subject to change. The estimated salary range for this position is $120,000 to $135,000. The actual salary offered will be based on a wide range of factors, including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and where applicable, licensure or certification obtained. Market and Firm factors are also considered.
