OVERVIEW

The Paralegal Practice Manager will work closely with the Firm’s paralegal management and paralegal administration teams to manage work allocation and resources related to the Firm’s paralegal staff in the D.C., New York and London offices.  The ideal candidate will know how to meet the Firm’s standards of excellence in supporting our paralegal teams and deliver superior service to our clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Monitors resource allocation and productivity of paralegal teams across all offices, including maintaining all related internal tracking resources;
  • Implements and monitors centralized system for staffing paralegal teams;
  • Creates staffing reports to determine workflow capacities and flags potential staffing issues or opportunities to improve efficiencies;
  • Enhances the effectiveness and use of various paralegal reports;
  • Monitors work allocation, billable and non-billable matters and overtime reports through weekly, monthly and quarterly analysis;
  • Partners with the Financial Planning and Analysis department and Practice Management team to present key data trends and takeaways related to paralegal and legal staff work allocation;
  • Coordinates with attorneys to identify paralegal staffing needs;
  • Implements, monitors and ensures compliance with various paralegal-related policies and collaborates with Human Resources regularly on policy interpretation and developments;
  • Collaborates with the Firm’s Pro Bono team to ensure that all paralegals are provided opportunities to work on matters and monitors these efforts, as needed;
  • Meets regularly with internal leadership to discuss staffing and resource needs, as well as project updates and practice area developments applicable to paralegal teams;
  • In collaboration with the paralegal management team, analyzes and sets annual hiring goals;
  • Exhibits flexibility and willingness to take on new responsibilities and assignments as they are identified and assists with various ad hoc projects and Firm paralegal needs, as needed; and
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required;
  • At least 5-10 years of experience in a related role, preferably within in a legal or other professional services environment; title will be dependent upon substantive work experience and educational credentials;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively present metrics and key data points, both in writing and verbally;
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills and the ability to synthesize and interpret numerical data and metrics effectively;
  • High level of practice management expertise and a strong ability to effectively execute on initiatives key to the success of the paralegal program;
  • Ability to work and interact with partners, attorneys and professional staff at all levels and develop a strong knowledge of the Firm;
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to work with others to identify issues, problem solve, obtain consensus and implement change;
  • Excellent judgment and ability to deal discreetly with confidential information; and
  • Availability to work additional hours, as needed.

 

This position is located in our New York office, and currently has a hybrid work schedule, but that is subject to change. The estimated salary range for this position is $135,000 to $165,000. The actual salary offered will be based on a wide range of factors, including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and where applicable, licensure or certification obtained. Market and Firm factors are also considered.
