OVERVIEW

The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing routine functions within the Firm’s Accounting department including supporting the Assistant Controller and Assistant Accounting Manager in the preparation of analysis and information requests and on special projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports Assistant Controller and Assistant Accounting Manager in the preparation of financial analyses, reports and information requests;
  • Assists on special projects such as software conversions and upgrades;
  • Assists with the monthly financial close by preparing account reconciliations;
  • Analyzes accounts, records journal entries and maintains accurate supporting analysis and documentation;
  • Researches, analyzes and resolves questions relating to financial transactions;
  • Maintains integrity of general ledger accounts through review of account activity and balances for accuracy and reasonableness and prepares adequate supporting audit schedules;
  • Analyzes P&L trends and investigates discrepancies;
  • Assists with design of financial reports in collaboration with Financial Systems Analysts;
  • Assists with administration and maintenance of Chrome River system;
  • Participates in completion of interim and year-end audit work; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned such as processing expense reports and invoices in Chrome River, creating cost batches, pulling cost backup and preparing wires and checks.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Accounting or related field;
  • 1-3 years of related experience preferably in accounting, auditing or tax within a professional service industry;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word;
  • Experience using 3E and Chrome River preferred;
  • Excellent grammar, proofreading, and organizational skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information;
  • Capable of analyzing and solving problems and meeting strict deadlines;
  • Ability to interact with attorneys and staff in a professional manner;
  • Ability to work well under pressure and coordinate several activities at one time; and
  • Availability to work overtime, as needed.

This position is located in our New York office, and currently has a hybrid work schedule, but that is subject to change. The hours for this position are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m, Monday through Friday. The estimated salary range for this position is $68,000 to $85,000 plus overtime. The actual salary offered will be based on a wide range of factors, including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and where applicable, licensure or certification obtained. Market and Firm factors are also considered.
